In 1998 I was involved in a car accident that left me missing three fingers on my right hand. They say everything happens for a reason. Little did I know 12 years ago what those reasons would turn into. After the accident, I was awarded structured settlement payments that were divided and distributed over many years. This sounded great to me back then. However over the last three years my fiance Brian and I have been trying to start a family through adoption. Although it is very rewarding, the process is not always easy nor is it financially feasible. Our first attempt at adoption ended in disappointment as the country changed adoption laws and we no longer qualified as parents from that country.

Our second attempt has been heart wrenching. Over two years later, we are still awaiting the homecoming of a daughter from Kyrgyzstan. Due to the uncertainty of the outcome, my heart was led to Russia. I was two years away from another settlement check and was already behind on my mortgage. How could I even fathom starting a third adoption? But after I saw the photo of the little boy I knew I had to figure out a way to bring him into our lives. Another adoption process brings more uncertainty and another gamble and financial sacrifice. But this time was different; I knew it was meant to be.

In July of 2009 I had first contacted Julie at Client first because we were "thinking" about selling some payments. For several months we debated and were delayed for one reason or another. By December we were clear we needed to proceed to make our dream of a family come true. We encountered a few obstacles but Client First and Julie walked us through everything. In February we finalized our settlement funding. In May we completed the adoption of our little boy from Russia. Without the help of Julie and many others at Client First we would have lost the chance to be Kolya's (Nikolas) parents. He will no longer sleep alone in an orphanage. Thankfully, due to persistence and hard work on everyone's part at Client First, we are a family!"
